Webpage to Markdown converter
Paste a link and get the page as clean Markdown, ready for ChatGPT, Claude or your notes. This converter is on its way; two ways to do it today are below.
Converting from a link needs a small server to fetch the page. It is being built. Until then:
What you will get
The page as Markdown: its title, headings in order, paragraphs, lists, tables, code blocks with their language, links kept, images as links to the picture, and a line at the top pointing back to the source. The parts that are not the article, such as menus, ads, cookie banners and share buttons, are left out. Same rules as the Pick Markdown extension, so the result is the same whichever you use.
Common questions
How will the webpage to Markdown converter work?
Paste a link, press Convert, and the page comes back as Markdown: title, headings, text, lists, tables and code, with a link back to the source on top. Menus, ads and cookie banners are left out.
What can I use right now?
Two things. The free HTML to Markdown converter on this site: copy text from the page and paste it in. Or the Pick Markdown extension, which converts the page you are reading and lets you tick the sections you need.
Why does this one need a server?
A website cannot read another website from inside your browser; the page has to be fetched by a server first. The extension does not have that problem because it runs on the page you already have open.
Will it work on pages behind a login?
No. A server only sees what a visitor without an account sees. For pages behind a login, use the extension; it converts what is on your screen.
